Introduction	Melissa is a long-time public education activist in Seattle. She has co-written the Seattle Schools Community Forum blog since 2006 with Charlie Mas. Melissa served on the Seattle School Board's Closure and Consolidation Committee in 2006 for which she and her fellow committee members were nominated for a Jefferson Award for volunteer service. Melissa received a PTSA Golden Acorn award for her volunteer work. Seattle Magazine named Melissa and Charlie two of the most influential people in Seattle for 2011. She and her husband are the proud parents of two SPS grads.
